  2. Public Hearing: Property Tax Reduction Request via King Co. Public Benefit Rating System (PBRS)

    June 7, 2021, 7:00 PM @ Virtual Meeting

The Issaquah City Council will hold a public hearing to receive public testimony regarding an application submitted for a property tax reduction through the Public Benefit Rating System (PBRS) program for 2.76 acres of open space located at 5805 229th Ave. SE. The PBRS program (RCW 84.34 and KCC 20.36) offers incentives to landowners to voluntarily preserve certain properties, including protecting buffers to streams and wetlands, ground water protection, preserving significant wildlife habitat, and conserving native forestland. The property received PBRS approval in 2015 and is currently assessed at a “current use” value, which is lower than the “highest and best use” assessment value. The landowners of the property are re-applying to add credit for an additional program category. If the application is approved by both the City Council and the King County Council, the property would be re-assessed at a “current use” value, which is lower than the existing “current use” value.
