Juneteenth is a day to come together as a community and celebrate the emancipation of black enslaved people. There are two community events this year:

Global Grub and Groove: Juneteenth Celebration

  • June 16 from 6- 8 p.m.
  • Village Green
  • Join friends and neighbors at Village Green for fun, food and free entertainment to celebrate culture and community! Enjoy red velvet cake, music from Michael Powers, and New Orleans soul food from popular food truck Where Ya At, Matt? This summer’s series starts with a celebration of Juneteenth to honor our African American neighbors. Free to attend – all are welcome! Bring a blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy the entertainment! Hosted by the Issaquah Highlands Council.

Juneteenth Celebration

  • June 19 from 5-7 p.m.
  • Issaquah Community Center
  • Come join us for a family-friendly BBQ and music as we celebrate Juneteenth at the Issaquah Community Center! There will be delicious BBQ from HP Smokehouse Food Truck (vegetarian options available) with opportunities to win a free meal, music for all audience, free Big Red refreshments, art displays, children activities, student performances from Gibson Ek High School and a special interactive performance by Northwest Tap Connections, a distinctive urban dance studio specializing in Rhythm Tap and cultural education. This year they will provide storytelling about Juneteenth, emancipation poll demonstration with audience participation and a dance performance you won’t want to miss.
