[ARCHIVED] Call for Art: Box Wraps

Cropped_Cougar Mtn Middle School Meghan Eng

About

The City of Issaquah Arts Commission administers a traffic utility box wrap program as part of its public art program, adding unique opportunities for public art in the streetscape. Traffic signal boxes were wrapped by TrafficWrapz, using original artwork by local artists. More wraps are added each year, and the collection now totals more than 80 wrapped boxes at 35 locations throughout the city.

The Arts Commission now is seeking artwork to wrap additional utility cabinets in late Summer 2023.

Scope of Work and Compensation

The selected artists will receive $500 for a one-time, specific use of their artwork.

Use of existing artwork is encouraged (rather than creating something specifically for this opportunity).

Artwork must not contain graphic depictions of violence, sexually explicit imagery and/or nudity. Artwork must not contain advertising, branding, or commercial images. Artwork must not include large areas of black or extremely dark colors to avoid overheating of the cabinet. Artists should own all rights to images and content used in the artwork.

The artist is not responsible for wrap design, fabrication or installation.

Wraps will be installed in 2023 and may be removed at any time at the discretion of the City. The estimated life of the wrap is approximately 7 years.
