The blotter compiles incidents deemed noteworthy by IPD and does not include all calls, incidents or self-initiated activities handled by officers. To be respectful of privacy, exact addresses and victim/arrestee names are not included in this listing.

Call Type: Theft Report

Time/Date: 1116, 03/06/23

Location: 100 BLK Newport Way NW

Description: On 03/06/23, a local business reported discovering some of their stored electronic devices stolen after having a contractor come through to recarpet the facility. This incident is actively under investigation. 

Call Type: Disturbance (Road Rage)

Time/Date: 1442, 03/06/23

Location: Central Park LN NE & 18th AVE NE

Description: Around 1442 hrs, a call was received reporting a road rage incident. A group of juveniles were driving when they got into an altercation with another driver in a Ford F-150 with a black canopy. The juvenile reported that the driver, described as an Asian male wearing glasses and a hat, pulled a gun out and pointed it at them, stating he would kill them. They decided to call police to report the incident but gave no further information or were willing to give a formal statement. 

Call Type: Suspicious/ Theft

Time/Date: 1942, 03/06/23

Location: 1000 BLK 10th AVE NE

Description: A call was received reporting two females preparing to steal from a local business. Officers arrived to find one of the females wearing multiple layers of clothing from the business, with a hunched back, attempting to run out of the store. The suspect was caught and discovered under the protrusion was additional merchandise. The females were both trespassed and the one caught stealing was additionally arrested on investigation of Theft in the 3rd Degree.

Time/Date: 0101, 03/07/23

Location: 1600 BLK NE Katsura ST

Description: Around 0101 hrs on 03/07/23, an individual called to report concern that someone had broken into their home and was laying under a blanket on the couch. Fortunately, it was just some suspiciously shaped pillows and a blanket on the couch!

Call Type: Theft (Juvenile-Related)

Time/Date: 1835, 03/07/23

Location: 1500 BLK Highlands DR NE

Description: On 03/07/23, around 1835 hrs, two juveniles ran in, opened a display case, and grabbed multiple lotions and body washes from a local business before running back out. Fortunately, there is video footage. The suspects are described as high-school aged, Hispanic, roughly 5’5 with slender builds. One had curly hair, and according to witnesses, one or both are believed to live in a neighboring residence. Officers are following up with potential leads identifying the juveniles. 

Call Type: Threats

Time/Date: 1933, 03/07/23

Location: 3700 BLK Providence Point DR SOUTH

Description: A call was received around 1933 hrs reporting a disgruntled employee making threatening statements to another employee. Officers arrived and discussed the situation with the subject and their supervisor. The subject admitted to making the threats but never intended to act on them and apologized for what was said out of frustration. The business was made aware of the situation and took appropriate actions. 

Call Type: Missing Child (a.k.a. The Curious Case of Chatty Children)

Time/Date: 1358, 03/08/23

Location: 500 BLK NW Holly ST

Description: Around 1325 hrs on 03/08/23, IPD was contacted by a worried mother stating her young son did not come outside to walk home and the school was actively searching for him. Shortly thereafter it was discovered the child, deep in conversation and play, had accidentally gotten onto the school bus with his friend and the bus driver was watching him. An officer gave the mother a ride to the bus stop to be reunited with her child. 

Call Type: Theft In-Progress

Time/Date: 1743, 03/08/23

Location: 700 BLK NW Gilman BLVD

Description: On 03/08/23, a call was received reporting a white female observed attempting to conceal items in bags at a local business before walking out of the store and loading up a gray SUV. Responding officers were able to find a vehicle matching the description and detained the subject. All merchandise was returned, and the subject was arrested on investigation of Theft in the 3rd Degree and trespassed from the location. 

Call Type: Assault In-Progress

Time/Date: 1809, 03/08/23

Location: 1700 BLK NE PARK DR

Description: A call was received reporting a large group of juveniles fighting. The responding officer arrived on scene to find 25-30 juveniles and one adult gathered around two juvenile females involved in a physical altercation. The officer attempted to break up the fight and speak with two fighting juveniles, one of which was openly confrontational and would not answer questions and the other who stated they had no injuries from the fight but would answer nothing else. All juveniles were asked to leave the area.  

Call Type: Suspicious

Time/Date: 0352, 03/09/23

Location: 18000 BLK SE 42nd ST

Description: A caller reported being awoken to an alert from their camera system. It recorded an unknown dark-skinned male, possibly black, looking into their front door window 30 minutes prior. No entry was made. Officers responded and searched the area on foot for the subject, but they were gone upon arrival. The suspect is described as a 6 ft tall white male, 30’s, average build, wearing khaki pants, a tee shirt and white tennis shoes.  

NOTE: Another couple calls came in later reporting other homes in the neighborhood reported potential prowling or vehicle prowling activity on their cameras with the same suspect. IPD has decided to increase patrol activities in the evenings to the surrounding areas to deter criminal activity.   

Call Type: Fraud 

Time/Date: 1321, 03/09/23

Location: 4700 BLK West Lake Sammamish PKWY SE

Description: On 03/09/23, a resident called to report having a substantial amount of money stolen while attempting to invest in crypto currency through a company linked to an individual, they were online dating. The resident filed a report with the Federal Trade Commission but needed a police report to document everything first.

NOTE: There has been an uptick in local fraud claims. Be wary of investing with folks you meet online or giving personal information over the phone to companies who call you out of the blue or request submitted information via texted links. Consider putting your number on the Federal Trade Commission’s National Do Not Call Registry. Go to www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222.

Call Type: Harassment (Juvenile-Related) 

Time/Date: 1533, 03/10/23

Location: 900 BLK Discovery Circle NE

Description: On 03/10/23, a concerned parent called to report an increase in juvenile bullying and juvenile-lead thefts by the same individuals at their place of business. The juveniles in question reportedly do not live at the same residence but come over to target residents there. IPD is aware of the increase in these juvenile-related activities but are unable to talk to juveniles directly without guardians present. Officers requested the identity of the juveniles so that they may reach out to the parents to work on solutions that will work for all parties involved. 

Call Type: Assault In-Progress

Time/Date: 1946, 03/11/23

Location: 700 BLK NW Gilman BLVD

Description: On 03/11/23, an individual came into a local business and assaulted an employee, attempting to choke them. The suspect was known to the reporting party. Responding officers arrested the suspect on investigation of Assault in the 4th Degree.  

Call Type: Burglary In-Progress

Time/Date: 2122, 03/11/23

Location: 2000 BLK NE Logan ST

Description: Around 2122 hrs on 03/11/23, 3-4 suspects broke into a home via the back glass door and proceeded to steal a private collection of weapons and other items, including personal documents and money. The suspects are described as Spanish-speaking males, all wearing jeans, long sleeved shirts, face masks and gloves. They were filmed loading up a dark colored SUV before leaving with a white sedan trailing. If you have any information, including footage of said possible suspects in the community before or during the said incident, please contact the police department! 

Call Type: Theft In-Progress (Multiple stores)

Time/Date: 1026, 03/12/23

Location: 1400 BLK 10TH WAY NE

Description: On 03/12/23, a local business reported a white male wearing cream puffer jacket and gray sweatpants had stolen a couple of items and fled the store. Officers searched the immediate area and were unable to locate the suspect. However, an hour later, the suspect was found outside another business with a duffle bag that still had its tags on, about to walk into a third store. Officers were able to stop the suspect who stated they were a fisherman going about their business. After further discussion, the suspect admitted to stealing from at least one business and had stolen property from another on their person. The suspect was arrested on investigation of Theft in the 3rd Degree and booked into the Issaquah City Jail.
