Kees’ namesake awardhonors the legacy of a grassroots activist who for more than four decades
advocated for the preservation of landmarks and natural areas, sustainabledevelopment, recycling programs, and the protection of the Issaquah Valley
Aquifer and Tiger Mountain.
The award recognizesthe efforts of exemplary individuals for environmental excellence and
demonstrating enduring vision, dedication and lasting effects.
Building upon thelegacy of the Kees award, the Community Environmental Award recognizes
outstanding achievements by individuals, groups and organizations.
These achievementsare noteworthy in their impact and benefit to the community, while also smaller
in scale or vision, shorter in duration or more localized in impact.
