The blotter compiles incidents deemed noteworthy by IPD and does not include all calls, incidents or self-initiated activities handled by officers. Call Type: Burglary In-Progress/ Suspicious
Time/Date: 0342, 02/20/23
Location: 23000 BLK SE Black Nugget RD
Description: On 02/20/23, a local resident called reporting a potential burglary in-progress at his home. A Hispanic man wearing a black raincoat moved the Ring camera on the owner’s back door and began looking in their windows. After the owner confronted the subject, the subject fled east of the complex. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any individuals matching the description.

Location: 23000 BLK SE Black Nugget RD
Description: Around 0620 hrs, an employee from a local hospital called to report that a patient, in for a fall, had presented with injuries consistent with an assault. Due to the severity of the injuries, the patient was transferred immediately to a local trauma center. Officers were able to locate the address where the individual was picked up from and has opened a full investigation into the incident.

Location: 1000 BLK 15th PL NW
Description: A call was received around 1145 hrs reporting concern that an individual had committed suicide after receiving concerning messages. Officers responded to the last known location of the individual to find they were gone. After speaking with known contacts, family members, and working with other local jurisdictions, officers were able to locate the individual who stated they were fine and were working through some things privately.

Time/Date: 2053, 02/20/23
Location: 1000 BLK 10th Way NE
Description: Around 2053 hrs, a call was received from an employee of a local business reporting 3 white males they suspected were about to shoplift. Upon arrival, officers were notified that one did steal from the store. One of our officers contacted a subject matching the description provided walking behind the business. The suspect was carrying a duffle bag filled with items matching those reported stolen. After running their name, it was found the individual had an additional 4 warrants for their arrest. The subject was detained and arrested on investigation of Theft in the 3rd degree as well as on their warrants.

Time/Date: 1157, 02/21/23
Location: 1000 BLK 10th AVE NW
Description: On 02/21/23, multiple calls were received reporting a white male attempting to lure 2 young children into his vehicle. The suspect reportedly claimed there was a threat and that they needed to go with him to safety. The suspect is described as a white male, in their late 30’s to early 40’s, with a brown beard of medium length. The suspect was seen getting into a black pickup truck. IPD is actively investigating this incident.
NOTE: IPD would like to make it known that the children involved were very brave and not only knew not to go with the man, but immediately reported it. IPD would also like to thank the brave witness(s) who noticed something wasn’t right and attempted to get pictures of the suspect’s vehicle. This was an excellent example of community strength.

Location: 6200 BLK East Lake Sammamish PKWY
Description: A call was received reporting a group of juveniles throwing fireworks at vehicles behind a local business. Officers arrived but were unable to locate any juveniles in the area.
Call Type: Traffic Stop/ Suspicious
Time/Date: 1744, 02/22/23
Location: SE 51st ST & 220th AVE SE
Description: On 02/22/23 a call was received reporting a suspicious vehicle with license plates covered by paper. An officer was able to make contact and perform a traffic stop on the vehicle. After running the appropriate license number, it was discovered the individual had an active warrant for Theft in the 3rd degree. The subject was detained and arrested on the warrant for theft.

Location: 1900 BLK NE Park DR
Description: A call was received reporting a subject in a black Chevrolet appeared to be pulling someone over, believed not an officer, who then began taking a picture of a female juvenile. Responding officers searched for the vehicle but were unable to locate it.
NOTE: Police officers must always identify themselves when pulling someone over, from a car or on the street. If you ever have concern over whether an actual police officer is pulling you over, call 911 to verify.
Call Type: Theft Report (Catalytic Converter Thefts - Multiple Instances)
Time/Date: All hours
Location: Multiple locations across Issaquah
Description: There were three calls regarding thefts of catalytic converters. One theft occurred inside a parking lot of a large commercial business while the other two occurred at various residential locations. The former trend of catalytic converter thefts saw mostly 2001-2021 Toyota Prius vehicles as targets locally, however, none of these cases included Prius vehicles. IPD will be conducting further analysis of these crimes to determine if there is any possibility of predicting targets in order to apprehend the those targeting vehicles here.
NOTE: If possible, try to part in a well-lit area or somewhere with cameras in view, both at home and while out in public. Additionally, if able, consider installing a catalytic converter anti-theft device or have a muffler shop etch your vehicle’s VIN on the converter and spray it with highly visible, high-heat paint. Doing so enables law enforcement to track the converters, which in turn could potentially lead police to the thieves.
Call Type: 911 Problem (Accidental Dial)
Time/Date: 1309, 02/24/23
Location: 700 BLK 2nd AVE SE
Description: On 02/24/23 a call came in, which sounded like a pocket dial. Two juveniles were walking and thanking each other for each other’s existence. Dispatched checked for location and had an officer check on the kids just to be safe. The call was determined to be an accidental dial by what appears to be very thankful children.

Location: 100 BLK Aires PL NW
Description: Around 1542 hrs, a concerned citizen reported seeing potential mail thefts. A small brown box van with ladders ontop was seen driving down the street making stops at mailboxes, where a passenger would get out and check the mailboxes before proceeding to the next. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a brown and orange hoodie. Officers checked the surrounding neighborhoods but were unable to locate the vehicle or passenger.

Location: 1000 BLK 17TH AVE NW
Description: On 02/25/23, a caller reported smoke coming from an elevator on the 2nd floor of a parking garage. Officers arrived to find a man had set fire to a stack of Pokémon cards. The individual was detained as Eastside Fire and Rescue put out the fire in the elevator. After running the individual’s name, it was found they were in violation of a trespass notice for a prior similar incident and were arrested on investigation of Criminal Trespassing in the 1st degree as well as Reckless Burning in the 2nd degree.

Time/Date: 0736, 02/26/23
Location: SE Black Nugget RD & Highlands DR NE
Description: Around 0736 hrs on 02/26/23, a concerned passerby reported seeing a single car collision near a retention pond. Responding officers arrived to find the vehicle unoccupied, in a ditch with alcohol containers in the bottom of the vehicle. The collision resulted in damage to a chain-link fence which was ripped from its post. Officers were able to identify the driver of the vehicle and a citation was issued.
