[ARCHIVED] Issaquah Buries Time Capsule

As the final celebration of Issaquah’s 130th birthday we buried the time capsule, built with support from the communityalong the Rainier Trail, to be opened in 2050. In 2023 we will install a plaque at the capsule burial spot!

The contents represent a snapshot of life in Issaquah — COVID-19 tests and masks from the pandemic; pickleball paddles representing a growing community sport; and educational tools from the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery that symbolize our region’s commitment to environmental protection.

Read the letter from Mayor Pauly that is included in the capsule.

We hope that as future community members explore these items from Issaquah’s past, it will reaffirm our community’s ongoing commitment to building a sustainable future for everyone.
