The City is constructing a new pedestrian bridge across Anti-Aircraft Creek and a raised intersection and pedestrian crossing where the Cougar Precipice Trailhead meets Newport Way NW. More information about this project can be found here.
Crews will begin work on this project on Sept. 19. The project is expected to take five months, barring any severe weather delays.
During this window the roadway within the construction zone will be one lane, with alternating traffic assisted by flaggers and temporary traffic signals. Delays and minor congestion are to be expected.
The King County trailhead won't be accessible during the construction window, but as part of this project, King County will be completing new parking lot and amenity updates. That work is projected to happen in Spring 2023.
Pedestrian access along the south side Newport Way NW will also be impacted by this work.
Questions related to this project can be emailed to Isabel Diaz, Senior Transporation Engineer.
