[ARCHIVED] Traffic Alert: 2nd Avenue SE and SE Bush Street

City crews will be working on improvements to the intersection of 2nd Avenue SE and SE Bush Street starting on Aug. 8, 2022 at 7 a.m. Construction will be between the hours of 7 a.m.-6 p.m. In the evenings, the intersection will be open. The first phase of work is expected to end by Aug. 30, 2022, barring any setbacks. 

From August 8-12, traffic will be reduced to a single lane and may cause delays and congestions. Thank you for your patience. 

Beginning on August 15, the 2nd Avenue SE and SE Bust Street intersection will be closed between 7 a.m.-6 p.m., opening in the evenings. A detour will be in place along Front Street, with local access only through Olde Town.

Project Details

This project includes improvements to the intersection, including concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter bulb-outs, water line relocation, storm water improvements and street lighting within the intersection. Led by community feedback, this project will be implementing additional measures to improve the effectiveness of traffic calming in this area. These measures include but are not limited to:

  • Improved nighttime illumination
  • Wider sidewalk spaces
  • Improved ADA accessibility
  • Lane width reduction in an effort to reduce vehicle speeds
