Have you had a chance to check out the new parklets on Front Street?
Open until the end of summer, these spots make a great option for those looking to meet friends, eat a quick bite, or just enjoy being on Front Street!
Background
The Downtown Pilot Parklet Program was a vision outlined in the 2017 Downtown Streetscape Concept Plan to transform a parking stall into a small public space. During the pandemic, our community recognized the value of additional outdoor seating to support not only businesses but the community’s desire to gather safely. City Council responded by providing funding to pilot parklets in the Downtown. The City worked with Downtown Issaquah Association (DIA) and downtown businesses to develop criteria for an application process to select two businesses for this pilot. The City has contracted with DIA to manage the entire program and provide data to evaluate the pilot.
Details
Japan Ginger and Krawbar restaurants were selected as the two pilot businesses as part of a competitive application process. Parklets will be in place through Sept. 27, 2022. Businesses are responsible to provide table and chairs and to maintain cleanliness of the parklets. The Downtown Issaquah Association (DIA) will manage the pilot program, which includes operations, communication and feedback about the program.
