Each year, the month of February is dedicated as Black History Month, honoring the triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout U.S. history. Join the City of Issaquah for these upcoming events:

Cultural Conversations: Black History Month - Feb. 17 noon-1 p.m.

Join the City of Issaquah’s Equity Board in a thought provoking conversation on the meaning of Black History Month. Learn how Black History Month was started as an annual observance, and hear from Issaquah community members whether we as a society have accomplished the mission set forth by President Gerald Ford in 1976, when he officially recognized Black History Month. Should we celebrate Black History Month? What is driving our desire to honor Black History Month? Hear answers to these and other intriguing questions in an inspiring “Lunch and Learn” event. 

Black History Month: A Trivia Challenge – Feb. 17 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Bring your family and friends to this fun and educational event honoring Black History Month. Test your knowledge about the accomplishments and contributions of Black Americans throughout our history. Learn new things, connect with other community members, explore how you can advance Equity in our Community.
