The U.S. Conference of Mayors recently honored Issaquah Mayor Mary Lou Pauly for her efforts in addressing the climate crisis.
In total, 13 mayors nationwide were honored as part of the 2021 Mayors Climate Protection Awards.
Each mayor was honored for exemplary city programs that demonstrate how local climate action can reduce energy use and carbon emissions, as well as protect local communities.
Mayor Pauly was an honorable mention in the Small City Category for the City’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Ordinance that requires EV infrastructure in most new construction and substantial retrofits. The ordinance requires a certain percentage of parking spaces to have EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) or be EV-ready, depending on the type of building.
