[ARCHIVED] Council Adopts Ordinance Establishing Stipends for Boards & Commissions

Issaquah City Council adopted an Ordinance establishing a stipend program for Boards and Commissions. The intent of this program is to help reduce access-related barriers to serve as volunteers on the City’s community advisory boards, thus increasing community members’ ability to serve. Effective November 1st, $50 stipends per meeting will be provided to members who opt-in to the program, to help offset transportation, childcare costs, and other relevant expenses.

The stipend program was initially proposed by the Human Services Commission during the proposal to establish an Equity Board in Issaquah. Since then, the proposed program was expanded to all boards and commissions, as a way to expand access to community members who historically have not been able to participate in the City’s work. View Issaquah City Council Meeting here.
