[ARCHIVED] Public Comment Period: Stormwater Management Plan

Are you interested in what the city does to maintain compliance with state and federal requirements for preserving surface water quality and environmental protection?

The Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) is a detailed document that looks back on elements and activities that were completed in 2020 and helps to guide actions the City will embark upon in 2021, as required by the Department of Ecology’s National Pollution Detection and Elimination System Permit.

Under a Municipal Stormwater Permit for Western Washington, the City of Issaquah is authorized to discharge stormwater into "waters of the state," including Issaquah Creek and Lake Sammamish. The City works throughout the year to protect these waterways and reduce the discharge of pollutants into the stormwater system.

The draft Stormwater Management Program Plan is available for public comment through March 29, 2021. The Permit requires the City of Issaquah to create and implement a Stormwater Management Program Plan, which addresses the following program components:

  1. Stormwater Planning
  2. Public Education and Outreach
  3. Public Involvement and Participation
  4. MS4 Mapping and Documentation
  5. Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE)
  6. Controlling Runoff from New Development, Redevelopment and Construction Sites
  7. Operations and Maintenance
  8. Source Control Program for existing Development
  9. Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL)
  10. Monitoring and Assessment

Please send all questions or comments about the draft Stormwater Management Program Plan to SWMPcomments@issaquahwa.gov.
