The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently adding auxiliary lanes on I-90 in Issaquah.
Crews will also build sound walls along Northwest Sammamish Road, which requires a closure of the road’s eastbound lane – west of the State Park entrance to 193rd Place Southeast – for 90 days this summer starting July 27.
All eastbound traffic on Northwest Sammamish Road will be detoured to I-90, and detours for cyclists will be provided.
This project will also make room for the City to potentially add new pedestrian/cyclist amenities in this area. Funding, however, is still needed, and likely years away.
Issaquah is hosting a virtual neighborhood meeting with South Lake Sammamish residents on these projects at 7 p.m. Aug. 12. A representative from WSDOT will also attend to present on the I-90 project, and answer questions.
