[ARCHIVED] - Apply Now: Citizens' Police Academy -

Go behind the badge with the Issaquah Police Department.

Meet the men and women who serve and protect you every day, ride along with a police officer and become a more informed citizen.

Starting in September, our police department is planning to have a free 10-week Citizens' Police Academy for adults 21 and older who live or work in Issaquah. They are creating an interest list for the fall session. If there is enough interest, the class will go forward.  If selected, you should be able to commit to attending all 10 sessions.

Each course will be taught by Issaquah police officers. In addition to hands-on demonstrations, our interactive courses will cover:
  • The art of investigation
  • How investigators handle crime scenes
  • Stories from our patrol unit
  • Partnerships with our local schools
  • Issaquah's 911 dispatch center and jail
  • Criminal law
  • Tactics officers use when dealing with the public
  • Officer safety
The academy will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. every Wednesday from Sept. 4-Nov. 6, 2019, at Issaquah City Hall and Police Department, 130 E. Sunset Way. Applicants must have no prior felony convictions, and pass a criminal background check. Apply now.

You will be notified before the class begins, and expected to attend the full 10-week academy.
