[ARCHIVED] - Community Awards: Meet Our Hall of Fame Inductees -

Mayor Mary Lou Pauly presented two community members with the 2019 Hall of Fame award during the Issaquah Community Awards May 30.

Over the years – and through their many contributions to Issaquah – members of the Hall of Fame have raised the bar with their inspiring examples of service, leadership and civic-mindedness.

The award is our community’s top honor.

Dan Anderson

Dan is a retired corporate attorney who has been an Issaquah resident for around 50 years.

In that time he has been extremely active in the Issaquah Kiwanis Club, where he served twice as club president and still chairs the Interclub Committee, the Village Theatre, as one of the longest serving board members and has been a key contributor to their fund raising efforts and finally, with Eastside Master Chorus who he has sung with for years, often hosting events at his home.

Dan is long overdue for this recognition, although he would be the last to admit it.

Frances Walton
Frances Walton is a Washington legend and Issaquah treasure.

A few of Frances’ many contributions to music include founding what is now the Bellevue Youth Symphony in 1958, starting the Issaquah School District music program in 1964 and creating the Olympic Music Camp which she ran for 25 years. In 1972, she founded Philharmonia Northwest and conducted it for 18 years. Her Youth Symphony earned top honors at the International Festival of Youth Symphonies in Aberdeen, Scotland.

In 1959, she founded and ran the Awards Tour Program for young professional musicians, recently named the Frances Walton Competition. At 91, Frances plays with the Issaquah Philharmonic Orchestra and two string quartets every week.
