[ARCHIVED] - Lockdown Lifted at Issaquah High School -
At 9:56 a.m. Dec. 12, Issaquah police received a report of a gun at Issaquah High School.
Someone reportedly overhead a student making threats, and talking about having a gun at the school. Following an investigation, no gun was found.
Issaquah police initially detained a small group of students. Despite the City’s first reports, only one student – a 14-year-old male – was ultimately taken into custody.
The high school was placed in lockdown, and Issaquah Middle School and Clarke Elementary School were placed in modified lockdown as a precaution.
Once law enforcement ensured the school was secured, the lockdowns were lifted at 11 a.m.
During this incident, police worked closely with the Issaquah School District administrative staff and security. Deputies from the King County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist.
According to the school district, additional counselors have been sent to Issaquah High School if students need support.
Safety in our schools is everyone’s responsibility. Report all crimes and suspicious activities to school staff and police. If you see or receive information about a gun on school campus, get to safety and call 9-1-1 immediately.
