[ARCHIVED] The Garage Seeks Youth Representatives

The Garage, A Teen Cafe is recruiting Issaquah School District-area high school students for the Teens 4 Teens student advisory committee.

Teens 4 Teens will help develop the environment and possible programming for The Garage, which opened at its location at 235 First Avenue S.E. in downtown Issaquah on Sept. 25, 2018.

The deadline for applications is Oct. 19. Applicant interviews will be scheduled for the week of Oct. 22.

The Garage's mission is to establish a safe place for teens to connect socially with peers and community resources, under adult supervision. Programming and activities are developed by teens themselves.

The Garage works with Friends of Youth as their fiscal sponsor, and with the City of Issaquah as the owner of its building. Major sponsors include the Kiwanis Club of Issaquah and the Rotary Clubs of Issaquah and Sammamish. The State of Washington also contributed to The Garage’s capital development.

Applicants should be 13 to 18 years of age, and attend Issaquah School District high schools (Skyline, Issaquah, Liberty, Gibson-Ek). Private school and home-school students of appropriate age who live within the Issaquah School District boundaries are also welcome to apply.

To apply, students should fill out the application online, and send it to Garage Director KayLee Jaech
