The Issaquah Police Department recently implemented a Traffic Enforcement Pilot Program focused on driving behaviors that affect traffic flow and local mobility on the valley floor south of Interstate 90, as well as the major commuting corridors of Front Street, Gilman Boulevard, State Route 900 and Newport Way.
During the enforcement from April-June 2018, police:
- Conducted 558 traffic stops or contacts
- Issued 370 citations/infractions
- Filed 564 violations charges
About 20 percent of the stops were for distracted driving, and 17 percent were for blocking intersections. More than 50 percent of the stops were for other offenses, including speeding, illegal passing, expired vehicle registrations, etc.
We want your feedback on the effectiveness of this program! Please take our
