The Starfish Throwers

Learn how you can impact your community with your individual actions.

Join our Office of Sustainability to see "The Starfish Throwers" — what The Huffington Post calls "the most heartwarming film of 2014" — at 6 p.m. Nov. 12, 2015, at Cinebarre, 1490 11th Ave. N.W.

The showing is free and a panel discussion follows the film.

Is hunger too big of a problem for one person to be able to make a difference?

Worlds apart, a five-star chef, a 12-year-old girl and a retired schoolteacher discover how their individual efforts to feed the poor ignites a movement in the fight against hunger.

"The Starfish Throwers" documentary tells the tale of these three remarkable individuals and the unexpected challenges they face. Despite being constantly reminded that hunger is far too big for one person to solve, they persevere and see their impact ripple further than their individual actions.
