October is time to prepare for emergencies and winter weather, as we observe Washington State Disaster Preparedness Month and NOAA Weather Radio Awareness Month.
Along with other agencies, businesses and citizens, we're encouraging emergency preparedness all month long.
The highlight of Washington State Disaster Preparedness Month is the Great Washington ShakeOut drop, cover and hold earthquake drill at 10:15 a.m. Oct. 15, 2015.
NOAA Weather Radio Awareness Month is a reminder that a weather radio is a great way to complement other sources of information during emergencies.
Without a weather radio, you could miss a critical warning message from local emergency authorities that could save your life.
