Fantastic Fly-In – a festival featuring flying paraglider floats and costumed pilots — takes wing on Tiger Mountain this summer.
The new event comes to the Tiger Mountain paragliding landing zone from 2-7 p.m. Sept. 12, 2015.
Spectators will gather in the landing zone to watch a spectacle of costumed paragliders taking to the skies. The prime time for flying is about 5 p.m.
The landing zone will feature food trucks and a beer garden.
Flyers will launch from Poo Poo Point, one of the premier paragliding sites in the United States. Fantastic Fly-In is sure to be packed with audacity, creativity, thrills and laughter — as well as a passion for flying.
Parking is available at the Issaquah Community Center, 301 Rainier Blvd. S., or Issaquah Christian Church, 10328 Issaquah-Hobart Road S.E., a half-mile north of the landing zone.
From 1-8 p.m., a free trolley will take festivalgoers to and from both parking areas and the landing zone.
Fantastic Fly-In is fashioned after the 40-year-old Coupe Icare, a French flight festival that marks the end of the summer flying season. Held each year in the alpine village of Saint-Hilaire du Touvet, Coupe Icare features spectacular demonstrations by costumed paragliders and spectators.
Fantastic Fly-In is sponsored by artEAST, Downtown Issaquah Association, Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce, Lake Washington Partners and Seattle Paragliding.
