[ARCHIVED] Election 2015: Complimentary Candidate Workshops

Issaquah voters will decide important races this fall — and shape the future of our community.

Before the campaign season starts, voters interested in running for public office can learn what it takes to be candidate.

King County Elections is hosting two complimentary, two-hour 2015 Candidate Workshops to discuss important information about filing for various offices.

The workshops are open to members of the public, candidates, campaign managers, treasurers and staff. The program covers the following topics:

• Filing for office in King County

• Submitting local voters’ pamphlet information

• Voter lists and data management

• Campaign sign regulations

• Basic public disclosure information

The classes will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday, April 24 and from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, April 25 at King County Elections, 919 S.W. Grady Way, Renton.

If you plan to attend, you must RSVP via email. The workshops will be cancelled if enrollment is low.
The period for candidates to file in-person and online lasts from May 11-15.

In the City of Issaquah, three City Council positions are open in the November 2015 general election. The positions are for four-year terms. The candidates elected in November will take office in January 2016. The open positions include:

• City Council Position 2

• City Council Position 4

• City Council Position 6

The salary for a council member is $700 per month ($8,400 per year).

In addition to City offices, voters can learn more about open Issaquah School District and King County offices from King County Elections.
