Public Hearing: Transportation Benefit District Sales Tax
Monday, November 20, 2023
The Issaquah City Council will hold a public hearing at a regular meeting on November 20, 2023, commencing at approximately 7:00 PM, to take public testimony regarding a proposed councilmanic 0.1% Transportation Benefit District Sales Tax (TBD) to be used to fund transportation projects.
This funding tool would diversify the City’s limited funding options to address traffic. If the City Council approves the sales tax, the 0.1 percent increase is estimated to cost the average Issaquah resident about $36 a year – and raise about $2.2 million annually for transportation projects.
The sales tax could only be spent on transportation improvements within the district/city limits. The tax would automatically sunset 10 years after adoption.
Additional information on the proposed sales tax is available online at
issaquahwa.gov/ProposedSalesTax. The proposal may change as a result of the public review process.
