Community Court

What is Community Court?

Community Court is a non-traditional, therapeutic approach that works to provide practical, targeted solutions rather than traditional punishment in cases involving low-level offenses.

The goal of Community Court is to remove barriers people face in obtaining services, restore self-sufficiency of participants and reduce recidivism. Working together with community service partners specializing in housing services, education, employment, chemical dependency, health care, licensing, mental health services and veteran services, we connect participants with the resources needed to restore the individual and the community.

When does Community Court meet?

Issaquah Municipal Community Court (IMCC) has partnered with Renton Municipal Community Court (RMCC) and meets every Thursday. A Virtual Resource Center (VRC) is offered from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and the participants appear in their respective courts from 1:30-3 p.m. The partnership between IMCC and RMCC allows us to offer a wider variety of service partners, share valuable resources and encourages collaboration that is beneficial to both Cities.

For IMCC, contact Kristi Schorn. For RMCC, contact Bonnie Woodrow.
