Issaquah Municipal Code requires that all businesses providing utility services (telephone, cellular, gas, electric, water, cable and garbage) to residents within the city limits of Issaquah must obtain a utility occupation license (PDF) and pay appropriate utility taxes on a monthly basis.
All utility occupation licenses issued pursuant to the provisions of this chapter will be valid until December 31st of the year for which they are issued, and all renewals thereafter will be for a period of one year commencing January 1st of the year for which the license is issued, terminating and expiring December 31st of the same year.
The utility tax rate is 6 percent applied against the gross income of the business. Utility taxes are due and payable on a monthly basis. The utility tax return form (PDF) must be filed even if no taxes are due. To avoid a late filing penalty, the tax return must be received by the last day of each following month, even if no tax is due.
