Costco Development Agreement

Overview

By partnering with Costco Wholesale, the City of Issaquah is enabling the Fortune 500 company to grow here while also ensuring the development fulfills Issaquah's vision for its commercial core.

Under a development agreement between the City and Costco, the nation's second-largest retailer is allowed to add up to 1.5 million square feet to its international headquarters in Central Issaquah.

Costco, which has called Issaquah home since 1994, is based in the Pickering Place mixed-used development. Its current office space covers 700,000 square feet.

The 30-year agreement provides Costco with flexibility and predictability as it expands its home office, while partnering with the City to construct a number of street improvements.

After extensive review and public input, the City Council unanimously adopted the development agreement in October 2014.
