Notice: Records Office Closure
The Issaquah Police Records office is currently closed to the public, and all police department front counter services are suspended at this time, including accepting Concealed Pistol License (CPL) applications in-person.
We will be accepting applications and payment by mail while our office is closed. In order to start the CPL application process, you must send an email to Records staff that includes your current residential address. Please send emails to IPDRequests@IssaquahWA.gov to request an application and instructions for mailing-in.
Please check the King County Parcel Viewer to make sure you are applying with the correct jurisdiction, as some parts of Issaquah are unincorporated and therefore under the jurisdiction of the King County Sheriff’s Office – we will advise you if we are unable to take your application. Sammamish residents will need to apply with the county.
Notice: Original CPL Applications
The decision to accept Original CPL applications has been made to better serve our residents while government offices remain closed. Fingerprints are still required for Original applications to be considered complete.
If you choose to obtain fingerprints from a 3rd party vendor, any additional expenses incurred will not be reimbursed. If you would like to avoid additional fees, you have the option of waiting until our office is open and providing fingerprinting services again.
How Do I Apply For A Concealed Pistol License?
Effective Oct. 1, 2020, we are accepting Original CPL applications by mail. Fingerprints must be taken for new applicants and are required for the application to be considered complete. As our agency is no longer performing the fingerprinting portion of the application, the background check process for each application will not begin until our office has received confirmation from the state that the applicant’s fingerprint card has been accepted and processed. At that point, Records staff will have 30 days to process your background check if you are a Washington resident and 60 days if you are a non-resident.
Requirements: Applicants must be 21 years old and either reside in the city limits of Issaquah or be a non-resident of the State of Washington. A valid state driver license or ID is required (if you are a permanent resident alien or have an alien firearms license, please see below).
- If applicable, your original certificate of rehabilitation or firearms restoration orders.
- If you are a permanent resident alien, your permanent resident card.
- If you have an alien firearms license, your original passport and US-issued alien number or admission number.
License fees are due upon application and are non-refundable. Fees are listed below and can be paid by check made payable to the City of Issaquah:
- New License $48
- Renewal $32 (within 90 days, prior to expiration)
- Late Renewal $42 (within 90 days, after expiration)
- Replacement $10 (lost or stolen)
Licenses are valid for five years from the date of issue.
Firearms Dealer Licenses
Applications for firearms dealer licenses has been altered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please contact Records staff for details. One set of fingerprints are required for the dealer. Dealers must be 21 years old and provide the following:
- Washington driver license or identification card
- Current federal firearms license
- Current state business license
- Current Issaquah business registration license
Dealer licenses are valid for one year from the date of issuance, and normally take two weeks to process. The fee of $125 is collected upon issuance, not upon application. Checks are to be made out to WA STATE TREASURER.
Alien Firearm Licenses
Alien firearm licenses are processed by the King County Sheriff's Office.
