Workshops: Newport Corridor Concept

The City of Issaquah is starting to develop a preliminary design, also called a corridor concept, for Newport Way Northwest from State Route 900 to Southeast 54th Street.

This preliminary design will re-envision the road as a parkway, including a median/turn pockets, landscaped buffers on both sides of the road, bike lanes and sidewalks. Each intersection and driveway access point will be examined, and alternatives will be discussed in depth.

As the first step in this engagement process, the City is convening residents to attend a series of two, in-depth workshops that will cover design opportunities and challenges moving forward.

The workshop attendees will then be asked to participate in neighborhood-specific meetings later this summer to assist the City in consulting with and informing their neighbors about next steps.

This is not residents’ only chance to hear more about the project, as the City will be organizing neighborhood meetings along Newport to share the results of the workshop.

The workshops will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. June 7 and 14 (please ensure that you can attend both meetings).

As these are in-depth workshops, we want to ensure that we have enough food, materials, and facilitators to gain meaningful input from our attendees. Please RSVP online by May 26. Questions? Contact Senior Engineer Brianne Ross via email or at 425-837-3415.
