Located north of Interstate 90, Issaquah Highlands is a master-planned community providing a mix of single-family and multi-family residential, commercial, retail and recreational uses.
Consisting of approximately 2,200 acres, the Issaquah Highlands project includes about 490 acres in the city, 1,520 acres of publicly-dedicated open space in King County, as well as 185 acres in unincorporated King County for 40 rural lots.
When complete, Issaquah Highlands could contain 3,250 residential units; 2,950,000 square feet of commercial use; and, 425,000 square feet of retail use.
It also includes an elementary school, a park-and-ride and parks. Besides the preceding original entitlement, 700 dwelling units were added through the Park Pointe transfer, and 500,000 square feet of other commercial or retail space resulted from the Mitchell Hill transfer of development rights.
The property was annexed in 1996 and the first residents arrived in 1998.
